Billed as the “Jean Paul Gaultier of Mexico (Elle Magazine)”, do that this irreverent character makes us turn around to see him wherever he goes.
We all know Sergio’s work is something distinguishable anywhere in the world, he shows us concepts, the unimaginable made possible, the kitsch and eclectic from the Mexican culture, that is how he is.
Besides working with various brands in the design of garments, accessories, clothing and so on, Sergio sell his creations to many places around the world; currently he has a sustainability and reuse of materials project, in addition to being a teacher at some universities in Mexico City.
Plui: What inspires you to design?
Sergio: The idiosyncrasies of the Mexican, the daily life that exists in Mexico City, the day to day, getting into a taxi or the subway, walking down the street, check all that is happening, all I see, based on that I start .
I have a sustainability project, all arose, based on a subway ride, I saw the car full of people and different textures, from denim, corduroy, cotton, polyester, nylon and details of different colors, and on that basis is that I got the idea of reusing materials.
P: How do you decide to get involved in fashion?
S: It was by coincidence, because I did not get in the school of La Esmeralda, of Art and that is how I decided to go to fashion. I studied at a school in Morelia.
P: What do you dislike about the fashion industry?
S: Nothing really, everything is subjective, there are things that some do not like but others love them. What I like the most is that it is a 100% banal media, superficial and of aspirations, and those three things make the product maximizes.
P: Who are your favorite Mexican designers?
S: Armando Mafud, embroidery artist and shakira and paintings on fabrics and Ramón Valdiosera, who is a designer of the past, and to what I am doing in the 60′s and 50′s.
Q: What does it mean for you to participate in events of fashion design schools and deliver lectures as interact with young people?
S: Leaving something, planting a seed, because in the end, the advice I can give to the students can affect their lifes.

Todos conocemos el trabajo de Sergio es algo distinguible en cualquier parte del mundo, el nos muestra conceptos, lo inimaginable hecho posible, lo kitsch y ecléctico de la cultura mexicana, así es el.
Ademas de colaborar con distintas marcas en el diseño de prendas, accesorios, vestuario y demás, Sergio vende sus creaciones a muchas partes alrededor del mundo, actualmente cuenta con un proyecto de sustentabilidad y la reutilización de materiales ademas de desenvolverse como maestro en algunas universidades de DF.
Plui: ¿Que es lo que a ti como Sergio te inspira para diseñar?
Sergio: La idiosincrasia del mexicano, la cotidianidad que existe en el DF, el día a día, el subirse a un taxi o al metro, caminar por la calle, checar todo lo que pasa, todo lo que veo, en base de eso empezar.
Traigo un proyecto de sustentabilidad, todo surgió en base a un viaje en metro, veía el vagón lleno de gente y texturas diferentes; desde mezclilla, pana, algodones, polyester, nylon y los detalles de diferencia de colores, y en base a eso se me ocurrió la onda de reutilización de materiales.
P: ¿Como es que te decides involucrar en la moda?
S: Fue por coincidencia, porque no quede en la escuela de La Esmeralda, de Arte y fue como me decidí meter a la moda. estudie en una escuela de Morelia.
P: ¿Que es lo que te desagrada de la industria de la moda?
S: Pues no mucho, todo es subjetivo, hay cosas que a algunos no le gustan pero a otros les encantan. A mi lo que mas me gusta es que es un medio 100 % vanal, superficial y de aspiraciones, entonces esas tres cosas hacen que el producto se eleve al máximo.
P: Tus diseñadores mexicanos favoritos?
S: Armando Mafud, artista en cuestión de bordados y shakira y pintado sobre tela y Ramón Valdiosera que es un diseñador de antaño hacía lo que estoy haciendo yo en los 60′s y 50′s,
P: ¿Que significa para ti participar en eventos de de escuelas de diseño e impartir conferencias e interactuar con los jóvenes?
S: Dejar algo, sembrar una semilla, porque a final de cuentas, el consejo que puedan llegar a tener los alumnos de lo que yo les diga puede repercutir en su vida.
